SevenBar Flying Service congratulates Lifeguard Air Emergency Services on 25 years of service to the State of New Mexico. On June 14th, SevenBar hosted a celebration to honor the 25-year history of Lifeguard Air Emergency Services. The event was held at Atlantic Aviation at Albuquerque International Airport and in attendance were crewmembers and other guests who have helped make Lifeguard the most successful transport program in the state over the past 25 years.
Lifeguard, a program of University of New Mexico Hospital, began flying patients via rotor wing transport in 1983. Lifeguard was New Mexico's first hospital based rotor and fixed wing transport program and was the first in the state, and second in the nation, to receive CAMTS (Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems) Accreditation. Over the years it has remained a leader in its field.
In 1986, Lifeguard added fixed wing service to its program with SevenBar Flying Service as its partner. That same partnership continues today and jointly the two organizations form a program that is a leader in the industry. The Association of Air Medical Services recognized SevenBar and Lifeguard's safety efforts by presenting them with AAMS' first ever Fixed Wing Safety Award.
UNM Health Sciences Center is an integrated health care delivery system and UNM Hospital is the state's only Level One trauma center. Lifeguard's crews are comprised of flight nurses and paramedics who have the highest levels of expertise and training in the transportation of critically ill patients. Lifeguard's primary service area is New Mexico, however it frequently transports patients from Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and Texas.
